Kalmar parish consists of five city congregations with nearly 22,000 members.

The parish has about 90 employees with a well-functioning administration. We celebrate worship and conduct parish activities in our parish churches, where many volunteers also contribute to the vibrant parish life.

Machine Operator with a Heart for the Cemetery

Kalmar parish has three cemeteries covering 26 hectares of burial ground and about 15,000 graves, as well as a crematorium. Our goal is for the cemeteries to be good places for mourning, cultural history, recreation, and meditation, as well as accessible green oases in the city of Kalmar. Description:

Do you want to work in an environment where each day bears traces of both the fragility and beauty of life? The Cemetery Administration is now seeking a machine operator for an excavator – a person who, with a steady hand, gentle gaze, and great respect, can contribute to caring for the place where people come to remember, mourn, and find peace.

Responsibilities:

As a machine operator with us, you will work in a responsible and service-oriented manner with precision excavation, construction, and service within the burial operations and congregations. Your responsibilities include:

  • Construction work such as cremation plots, walkways, drainage, and sewerage.
  • Grave excavation with an excavator, primarily wheeled.
  • Transport with tractors, wheel loaders, and forklifts.
  • Maintenance, service, and care of our vehicle fleet (tractors, machines, cars).
  • Garden and land work as needed, planting and maintenance of green areas.

You will be one of two machine operators, and in addition to close collaboration with all colleagues, you will also work closely with other parts of the parish on various projects. You will also be responsible for machine care and pruning of our many trees.

Qualifications:

  • Machine operator certificate/professional certificate for excavators, primarily wheeled excavators.
  • Driver's license B
  • Extensive experience in excavation, preferably primarily precision work with machinery – preferably documented.
  • Knowledge of occupational safety and health, especially regarding work in public places and near people.

Meritorious:

  • Experience in construction work
  • BE/CE license
  • Experience in leadership
  • Gardening education or similar
  • Work within cemetery/park
  • Water and sewage work
  • Chainsaw/Brushcutter
  • Work in lifts/Lift license
  • Loader/forklift
